Lindenmayer Boulevard

  • Lindenmayer Systems (or L-Systems) are grammars used to model the growth of plants and other fractal-like structures. This applet takes you down Lindenmayer Blvd. where randomly generated L-Systems are used as the scenery. Some structures look like tumbleweeds, while others look like ferns. Some look like broccoli, and others resemble nothing of this Earth. No two simulation runs will ever be the same!
  • For a more detailed description of L-Systems, check out Wikipedia and William McWorter's L-System tutorial.
  • Click any where in the applet to pause/unpause the animation
